You may need to log off and back on to enable this input type. Of course, you need to know what those codes are in the first place. If you’ve memorized the code of your favorite special character, you can insert it in less than a second with the proper key presses. Add EnableHexNumpad key with type of REG_SZ and set it to "1". This is where you press and hold the Alt key while typing a special character's numerical code on the numpad. If you don't know what the Registry is, please don't try this! Run regedit.exe and navigate to the HKEY_Current_User/Control Panel/Input Method branch. If this trick does not work, you should check some settings in your Windows Registry. This method works only for unicode codepoints U+0ffff and bellow.
